Jay graduated from Pepperdine University's Seaver College (SC) in Malibu, CA. in 1977 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration

Jay is married to the former Garianne Colson (SC '79 & GSEP '83) and they recently celebrated their 30th anniversary.  They have two daughters, Rachel (SC '08) and Julie (SC '09), both recent Pepperdine graduates
