A small girl, no more than five or six years old, stands amidst crowds of people in a small market in the Southeast Asian country of Myanmar. Her purpose is simple,  yet years beyond what most five-year-olds are accustomed to.  As her family's interpreter, she is the only link that allows her Chinese-speaking parents to acquire their goods from the Burmese speaking-dominated marketplace.  Without her, they would be lost.  For that girl, Elizabeth Kho, it was perhaps the ultimate in role reversal.  But it also taught her lessons that would last a lifetime.  Elizabeth's parents were Chinese and spoke only Mandarin.  Elizabeth was schooled in Burmese and learned Chinese through second-language classes in her youth.  "It sure made me grow up fast," Elizabeth says. 

"But it also taught me so much about the importance of communication."  As a woman fluent in English, Burmese, and Mandarin Chinese, to this day Elizabeth always makes sure to instill the importance of culture in her own children, Tommy and Christine.  But nowhere does her ability to communicate on many levels serve her more effectively than in her career as one of the San Marino/ Pasadena area's leading real estate professionals.  "In real estate, it is so important to listen to my clients' goals," she says.  "I feel I can help them open up and truly get to the root of what they want to achieve.  Only then can we achieve success."
